Toshiba Updates Satellite Notebook Range

Toshiba's Satellite range has been due for an update for a while now. Such systems as the Satellite P200-143, which we looked at last summer, failing to inspire us. It wasn't that the systems were bad, the Satellite U300 was a high point, so much as they were just fairly mediocre. That will hopefully change now, though, as both the Satellite and Satellite Pro series laptops are seeing an across the board refresh.

Satellite models will boast slim, streamlined glossy black chassis', while the the 'Pro' variants will be finished in Titianium Silver for that solid business like feel. This new range will include the 15.4in A300, 13.3in U400 and 17in P300, with a Pro version of each.

Internally a choice of both AMD and Intel processors should be available, varying by system. Graphics are said to be either of the Intel integrated or ATI Radeon variety, while we can expect a range of different configurations based upon intended usage and price.

Other specs are likely to be pretty much the same as the systems' predecessors, but we'll find out in Q2 when they all get released and the full details disclosed. Of course, by then we'll be pretty close to Centrino 2's (Montevina) launch, so Toshiba will need to hope its offerings are pretty compelling to dissuade people from waiting that little bit longer, either that or launch with Centrino 2. Time will tell if that's possible.
