Given our propensity to want small portable devices with big resolutions then hat's off to Toshiba.

At 135.4 x 78.1 x 79mm and with the ability to record video at a remarkable 1920 x 1080 at up to 60fps, the Tosh claims the 'A100F' is the world's smallest Full HD camcorder. Impressive yes, but that's not all the A100F has up its sleeve.

Unlike many of the latest camcorders - which opt for low capacity flash memory - the A100F has sensibly gone for good old moving parts and the choice of either 40GB or 100GB 1.8in HDDs. The latter means the potential to record up to 12 hours of tear jerking, marriage straining memories in glorious 1080p. On top of this the teeny camcorder stuffs in a 10x optical zoom and large 3in LCD as well as HDMI, component and USB ports.

If your mouth is already watering at the thought of terrorising your unsuspecting family with this little imp thing then you'll be pleased to know the marriage councillor can be booked soon after mid November when the A100F goes on sale in Japan. A reasonable ¥188,000 RRP (approx £850) for the 100GBer has been announced too, which should translate fairly well when the full global launch follows soon after.

Perhaps, more importantly, it will also leave you some cash to put aside for that divorce lawyer...

(Yes, memories of childhood holiday videos still traumatise me - well spotted sirs)

Update: Clarification on the World's Smallest tag. Toshiba says the A100F is the world's smallest 1080p camcorder to fit an internal hard disk drive - kinda cheating, but the smaller alternative would surely be rather rubbish:

"Welcome to our holiday in... {change memory card} ...sunny Spain {change memory card}" etc, etc
