As ideal a place for a TV as a kitchen is (who doesn't like joining in with cookery programmes?) but there are precious few televisions designed specifically for such a locale. Which is why, presumably, Toshiba is launching the 19LV612U "Stainless Style TV" which boasts the combination of "style and innovation with picture excellence, with the look of stainless steel for today's kitchen."
The 19in television - which also features a built-in DVD drive - offers a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution, and given its intended destination it would be unfair to fault it for failing to offer 1080p output. A 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 5ms response time are hardly worth mentioning - since when were black levels and motion blur a consideration when watching Ready Steady Cook?
Some criticism could be made of the connectivity, or rather lack thereof with only one HDMI port and a single Component input provided. That said, with a DVD player integrated it's hard to think what anyone would wish to hook up to the 19LV612U anyway.
No UK pricing yes, but in the US the 19LV612U has a $349.99 MSRP, so £250-odd seems a reasonable ballpark.
