Ok, so I'm into one of those writing challenges again where the headline pretty much destroys everything I'm about to say - still, I shall rise to it...
Yes, the T-Mobile G1 is now available in white, making up for the shoddy single colour option at launch (black - obviously). It will retail at exactly the same price as it's black cousin - why shouldn't it? Then again, while I always champion choice on TrustedReviews (mobile OS X rivals sort it out!) I'm not too sure anything is significantly added here.
Yup, we get the same stats: 7.2Mbit HSDPA, 3.2in touchscreen 320 x 480 pixel display, 192MB RAM / 256MB ROM, WiFi, GPS, 117.7 x 55.7 x 17mm and not a lick of paint more at 158g and I did indeed get to have a look at a white model back during my G1 first impressions. In fact, I had been told to expect a simultaneous launch.
So why the bad? In short: it just looks a bit... well, rubbish. Much in the same way the white backed 16GB iPhone says ooooh, I have a 16GB model don't you know it also says and I have no taste in finishes so the G1 white is a pale, plastic imitation of a handset not already overly high on street cred finish.
Still, it's white and it out there - right now in fact. So, if fashion sense has abandoned you, if you know who John Sergeant is and you care about whatever the show is he left, if you see Paris Hilton and manage to retain you recently digested lunch, then yes indeed people - this handset is for you.
If you hadn't guessed it by now however... black looks much better. (Seriously, folks, we're not kidding here. Buy the black one - Hugo)
