T-Mobile Flagship Store Launches With G1

If you ever wanted more proof that T-Mobile can battle O2 and Apple at their own game then this is it...

The ambitious telco has announced it will bump up the opening date of its impending flagship UK store to 30 October to co-incide with (yes, you guessed it) the anticipated monster roll out of the Android based T-Mobile G1. So that's a handset capable of battling with the iPhone 3G and an Oxford Street located outlet that will be able to stand toe-to-toe with Apple's hop-skip-and-a-jump-away Regent Street home.

As for the launch itself, doors will open at 7am - so if you want to walk away with a smile on your face and a G1 in your pocket best get there early...

Interestingly, Google has also been helpfully upping the Android anticipation this week by revealing its plans to have a virtual Qwerty keyboard ready by early 2009 with international variants following soon after. Furthermore, SIM Application Toolkit support will be added to the Android SDK before the end of the year meaning specific SIM functionality (carrier specific content, for example) can be integrated onto any Android handset - vital for mass market acceptance over multiple networks.

All I say is: the party starts in little more than 36 hours...
