If you’ve been unfortunate enough to read any celebrity magazine in the last year (I suggest you bin them and read this instead) you’ll have noticed many carry Sidekicks. Well if you want to keep up with the Hiltons you’ll need the latest one…
The T-Mobile Sidekick III is coming to the UK this December (no need to guess on which network) and though we may have had to wait six months for it to paddle across from the States there are a number of significant upgrades from its predecessor.
Most noteworthy among them is that of long awaited MP3 support though the built-in 1.3 megapixel camera is also a welcome addition. AIM, Yahoo and MSN instant messaging support is onboard too while EDGE data transfer and Bluetooth are the connectivity options (3G and WiFi are getting overdue).
That said the Sidekick III has a sleeker design than number II and it is 20 per cent smaller while T-Mobile claims improved battery life (without stating any figures). As for storage there’s 64MB of Flash ROM onboard with a MiniSD slot for further expansion and the network’s breakthrough flat rate data package ‘web n walk’ will be available on the device from launch.
Price will be dependent on tariff but I have to admit with the uber-powerful 3G, WiFi, 2MP, touchscreen equipped Vario II (aka HTC TyTN) also on T-Mobile’s books and costing just £69.99 with a Flext 35 contract (£30pm) the arguments behind plumping for a Sidekick III may be limited.
Still if you want to follow in the footsteps of Paris the first rule is to discard logic…
