While Spotify continues to face delays launching in the lucrative US market, it has announced a deal with Logitech which will make it accessible on a range of devices here in Europe.
In September it was announced that Spotify would be available on Sonos products and now it will be available on the Logitech Squeezebox network music players. However you will need a Spotify Premium subscription in order to get access to the service. It will be available on the Logitech Squeezebox Touch and Squeezebox Radio players from today.
“Whatever music you like from wherever in the world, Spotify and Squeezebox make it even easier for you to sit back, listen and relax in any room in your home. Logitech is delighted to add Spotify to its family of online music services for the Squeezebox product line,” said Romain Du Gardier, senior product manager for Logitech EMEA. While the need for a premium subscription may put a lot of people off using this service, you will get CD-quality 320 kbps sound, offline and mobile access, as well as exclusive music content for your outlay.
A fully featured test version of the Spotify app for Squeezebox Touch and Squeezebox Radio owners is available today in Beta form here, prior to a full rollout expected in the near future. Spotify is currently available in Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden as well as the UK.
