Sony may be the King of Proprietary technology, but it is also has a valid claim for the title King of Style as its new TZ series notebook shows.

As a successor to the popular TX line it oozes compact appeal and because of its hard wearing carbon fibre casing it weighs just 1.19Kg. Inside you'll find an 11.1in X-black LED backlit screen, microscopic Motion Eye webcam (in the bezel) and plenty of horses with an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor, up to 2GB RAM and the opportunity to fit a moving parts hard drive up to 100GB or do the right thing and go for a 32GB solid stater.

For security the TZ comes with fingerprint recognition and TPM hardware encryption while G-Sensor Hard Disk protection (if you did the wrong thing and went for moving parts) detects movement and braces the drive for any potential impact.

Also appearing in a store near you will be the 'SZ5' series, an upgrade the to the SZ range. Nothing too revolutionary going on here but hard disk capacities are now available up to 200GB and selling points such as the line's 'Speed/Stamina' graphics options and integrated HSDPA connectivity remain.

Both the TZ and SZ5 are set to appear next month in a vast array of configurations. If you want to look like the cat who got the carbon fibre laced cream (no, I have no idea what I'm talking about either) best bookmark SonyStyle right now...
