Sony Teasing January 9th Laptop Launch

Sony Teasing January 9th Laptop Launch

We always expect to see a few new products surfacing in at CES in January, but it seems Sony wants to make sure we're ready for its launch(es). According to a teaser page on Sony's New Zealand site, "on the 9th of January you will change the way you look at laptops. Forever."

Far be it from us to speculate what Sony is talking about when it says "the wait is almost over," and that "in only a matter of days you will change the way you think about laptops." Although some form of netbook-like system, as previously leaked, seems highly possible.

As there's absolutely no information from Sony other than the date on which the details will be revealed, it's hard to guess what is being announced. Especially when Sony's CES press conference is set for the 7th. That the company will hold off announcing a new product at the trade show in order to launch it a couple of days later seems a little strange. We'll just have to wait and see.

It'll be the usual. Plenty of style. Not much substance ...... and an exorbitant price to top it all off.

Yes. Style without substance and asking too much. Waiting for asus to implement nvidia ion in their netbook, who cares what sony is going to do. Used to be a sony loyalist.

But after memory stick. propriety formats etc, and topping off with ridiculous prices,

goodbye sony.

I don't know what you two are on about I have been using Sony laptops for years and find them to be of excellent quality. My latest VGN FW11M was only &#163850 and offers excellent performance for the money. i looked at other manufacturers but price wise the Sony could not be beaten for value. The build quality on their laptops is very good imo.

i can't wait to see how that long looking net/notebook will pan out. if it really is "ground breaking" (like isolated keys) or just a one time fad (like UMPC's)

My vote is for a 45nm Cell processor inside a Vaio :)

My vote is a Vaio netbook with Apple style pricing.
