Believe it or not (and given the state of our front page you'd be forgiven for falling in the latter camp) there are things happening today that aren't iPhone related (shock, horror!). Sony has instigated one of them, announcing that purchasers of its NWZ-A829 and NWZ-A826 media players will be getting some free content to put on them.
Buy an A829 or A826 in special bundles available exclusively from Argos and you'll find a voucher inside entitling you to free downloads from 7Digital.com. Head over its website, enter your supplied code and 7Digital will let you walk away with five music videos of your choice absolutely nothing, zip, zero. Better still, 7Digital's downloads are DRM-free, meaning that you can play these files on any media player, not just Sony's.
Going further still, all buyers of these Bluetooth-playback capable players (not just Argos customers) will also be able to claim a further five free downloads from Napster. Signing up to a 14-day free trial of Napster To Go is required, but there is no requirement to pay for any further subscription and the downloaded MP3 tracks will still work once the trial lapses.
A few free downloads may not tip the balance in Sony's favour if you were debating one of these players over a rival. However, if you were thinking of buying a Walkman anyway, then adding a few perks to the deal is doubtless a welcome offering from Sony.
