We thought we'd already seen Sony Ericsson's early 2008 Line Up but turns out, that was just the tip of the ice berg.
In what is sure to be just the first of a number of announcements this month and next, the mega-corp has unveiled three new handsets: the W760, W350 and Z555.
The first two models receive the Walkman branding and are on the receiving end of SE's slick player interface and TrackID software. Aside from this the pair differ substantially with the high end W760 sporting HSDPA, a 2.2in QVGA display, 3.2MP camera and built in GPS. By comparison, the W350 has EDGE, a 1.3MP shooter, a 1.9in 128 x 160 pixel screen and not a cat in hell's chance of GPS.
As for the Z555, the clamshell appears under the company's fashion line and features a love-it-or-hate-it external design, internal 1.9in 176 x 200 pixel screen, external 128 x 36 pixel OLED and 1.3MP camera - pretty standard stuff. One noteworthy feature however is that the Z555 is equipped with a motion sensor meaning inbound calls or alarms can be muted simply by waving a hand over it. Useful... and potentially career threatening.
The trio will happily swallow M2 memory cards and Walkman duo will go on sale in Q2 with the Z555 appearing later in Q1. In all, a tidy line-up to hold us over until 3GSM next month - where we expect to see it bring out the big guns...
