Sony "Still Pushing Some Paperwork" On Life With PlayStation

Life with PlayStation isn't perhaps as well popularised, or awaited as PlayStation Home, but, nonetheless, has been shaping up to be a pretty interesting project. Sadly, a progress report on the PlayStation Blog indicates that we'll be waiting a little while longer for an actual usable application, but on the plus side a few snippets of information about what we can expect from the finished product were given.

In the words of Senior Development Manager Noam Rimon: "I’ve got some good news and some okay news. We’ll start with the okay part. We’re still pushing some paperwork on Life with PlayStation — so hold tight just a bit longer. Now on to the good news, the Life with PlayStation application is looking great".

The gist of what Sony has detailed so far indicates that Life with PlayStation (an unnecessarily long name if you ask me) will be either an extension to, or replacement for the existing RSS reader, all based around a globe view. From this world overview, information such as weather and local news can be viewed from an interactive interface, all - pleasingly - while running other tasks in the background.

These other tasks include music playback and the PS3s Folding@Home application. The latter is a useful addition as currently using F@H on the PS3 stops the console from being used for anything else.

Most importantly, Rimon confirmed that Life with PlayStation will be a free download when it is finally available. Hopefully Home's numerous delays haven't set a precedent that all Sony's major updates will subscribe to and Life with PlayStation will be out soon.
