Sleek Audio Announces Sleek Wireless Earphones

Already highly customisable, the Sleek Audio SA6 earphones just got another configuration option which may well be the best yet. In partnership with Kleer Sleek Audio is launching a wireless module, innovatively called the Sleek Wireless, which allows the SA6s to be hooked up to any device with a 3.5mm jack sans cables. Except those from the receiver to the earphones, of course.

Unlike many solutions, Sleek Audio's adaptor uses 2.4GHz wireless transmission as opposed to Bluetooth, which Kleer (the providers of this technology) claim allows for completely lossless audio transfer. The reason that's so good is that, hard as they try, Bluetooth wireless headsets, such as the JayBird JB-200, never seem to offer quite as good an experience as a wired solution. In part that's because just about every manufacturer seems to think building the Bluetooth receiver into the part of the device hanging on the wearer's ear is a good idea - which it isn't.

Sleek Audio claims a battery life of 10 hours, which isn't that great but is more than enough for a normal day's use and says up to four receivers can listen to the same stream at a range of up to 60 feet. The only read downside seems to be that you have to use Sleek Audio's earphones with the Sleek Wireless, which is annoying for whose of us who already own an expensive set of phones but want to be freed from the mess of wire accompanying them.

No UK-specific details just yet, sadly.

Ok just been on the website. Please can somebody dicepher the following for me:

Quick Overview

These are the first wireless earphones that don&#8217t leave you stranded when the wireless system runs out of battery; simply plug your cables back in and you&#8217re back into a state of audio bliss.

Sleek Wireless is only compatible with Sleek Audio Earphones. (Earphones are not included with wireless unit).

Does this mean for $120 you dont get earphones? Im confused cos the images show earphones included...

Hi James, just to clarify, the $120 is for the wireless kit only, which includes the receiver, which plugs into your already existing SA6 buds, the transmitter that plugs into your audio player, a USB charger that charges both components at the same time, instruction manual and a nice litte pouch to carry the components in. As you mentioned, you do need to have already purchased the buds or purchase the entire kit for $299 from memory and believe me, it's worth it, these are fantastic! As the site says, if the batteries run out on the wireless kit, you just plug your original cable back into the buds and into your audio player and off you go - easy!
