Sky has announced that it has started to roll out its Anytime+ Video-on-Demand service to customers equipped with Sky+ HD boxes.

The service will start go live on Tuesday 26 October and enable users to access a wide library of content delivered over the Internet to their boxes – but it only works for those connected to Sky Broadband. There is no extra charge for the service and content will be available to view via the box before it has finished downloading

Sky said that over 600 films, entertainment shows and whole series of dramas would be available over the Anytime+. You’ll need to be signed up to the relevant package though to be able to view the content.

Sky already has a ‘push’ Anytime+ service, with content automatically made available on a reserved area of the hard disk in the Sky HD box, and more recent Sky+ boxes.

Sky said it now has over three million Sky HD customers and recently launched a dedicated 3D TV channel.
