SimCity Coming to iPhone, iPod touch

SimCity Coming to iPhone, iPod touch

We've already established that gaming on the iPhone and indeed iPod touch isn't quite where it needs to be to live up to what Apple would have us believe. As long as EA's developers don't screw up somehow, I think the soon-to-be-released SimCity for iPhone and iPod touch could turn that tide.

According to Venture Beat, and backed up by our own gaming guru Stu, visuals are akin to SimCity 3000 - and nothing like my artist's impression above. In terms of gameplay, I imagine SimCity iPhone is likely to be most similar to SimCity DS, but obviously controlled by finger gestures, rather than a stylus.

Actions such as zooming in and out, zoning (placing building areas) and so forth all get the touch and multi-touch sensitive treatment. UK pricing isn't confirmed, yet, but taking a look at other games, £5.99 seems a safe guess. We'll find out in December when SimCity iPhone is set to hit.

Oh, good. Any other 10 year old games coming soon to showcase the iPhones power? Minesweeper, perhaps? We can only dream *sigh*

Don't worry Tim, I hear from a contact deep within the iPhone's Secret Games Development Program (iSGSP) that, there is a 'killer' game soon to be released via the App Store.

I don't know what it's about, since my mole could only get a name and a date. All he could read from the glimpse of the top secret dossier he saw, before the silver case was closed and the handcuff attached, was -

The word 'Solitaire'

And the date 'Sometime in 2010'

Sounds spooky, eh? Oh Apple, you're such a tease :)

ps keep up the hard work 'developing' those games. I'm holding out for 'Donkey Kong'.

They need to bring out Monkey Island / Day of the Tentacle!!! I know you can do it with ScummVM but would be better to have it as part of the AppStore for the masses.

I can really see a Lucasarts adventuring partnership working here. DOTT on iphone would work really well.
