A more modest superzoom model is the new S1000fd. It features a 12x zoom f2.8-5.0 lens with a focal length range equivalent to 33-396mm, the same 10-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor as the S8100fd, but has a larger 2.7-inch 230k monitor.
It is a very small camera for the size of its lens, indeed Fuji is touting it as the world's smallest 12x zoom camera, measuring 102.5× 73 × 67.8mm and weighing 325g excluding its four AA batteries. It has a more limited feature set than its brandmates though, with no image stabilisation, although it does have automatic red-eye correction, manual exposure control and 1.4fps shooting speed at full resolution.
Like the other new launches the S1000fd will be available from March, at a price that will be announced closer to that date.
