Sansa: Anything You Can Dock, I Can Dock Better!

If one thing has hit rival digital music players hard when compared to the iPod, it is probably accessories. Everyone knows when you buy kit from the feline obsessed white fetishist that is has rafts of adds-ons, the most popular of which are easily the speaker docks.

In an attempt to counter this, ubiquitous flash memory giant SanDisk has launched the Sansa speaker dock for its range of players of the same name. They look rather meaty too, sporting four full range speakers, an amplifier and front mounted volume controls.

Any source content on the Sansa can be played back, including FM radio – which is the one glaring omission from Apple’s babies. The dock is powered either by an AC adaptor or with four AA batteries which provides extra portability. (Don’t even think of carrying it on your shoulder “Gansta-style” down the park though… for self respect reasons, nothing else).

Interestingly, although the Sansa speaker dock is primarily designed to fit the Sansa music players, it does also have a 3.5mm stereo headphone input allowing it to be connected to devices from other manufacturers, portable games consoles, laptops, basically anything… Try telling Apple or Sony to add that kind of third party functionality to their products?!

The Sansa Speaker dock will be hitting UK stores next month for a very reasonable forty sheets (thanks for the terminology Chris, keeps me hip n down wit da kidz!).
