When I reviewed the Samsung S85 in October last year, I remarked that the company had trimmed its digital camera range from 36 models down to just 19. Well I may have spoken too soon, because Samsung has just announced a whole swathe of new digital camera that are going to keep me busy for the next few months.

NV24HD
Leading the charge is the new NV24HD, a 10-megapixel, 3z zoom model featuring that latest of must-have features, a 1280 x 720 (720p HD) video mode. The NV24HD differs from some other HD cameras in that it also features an HDMI interface, so your HD video clips can be played back on a suitably-equipped HD TV at maximum quality. The camera also features a 2.5" AM-OLED monitor with a fast response time and wide viewing angle. Other features include 3200 ISO maximum sensitivity, Advanced Shake Reduction and local contrast control which enables the camera to compensate the brightness of a shadowed subject in backlit conditions.

The NV24HD will be available from March 2008, with a recommended price of £249.

There are three other new models in the stylish NV range. All three include Samsung's award-winning Smart Touch User Interface which has now been further enhanced for easy and convenient control.

NV40
The NV40 is a 10 mega-pixel compact camera featuring Samsung's improved processing technology and features such as a 3x optical zoom lens, both the optical and digital picture stabilization and automatic Red-Eye correction. The NV40 features a 2.5" LCD screen which automatically detects environmental lighting and adjusts LCD brightness accordingly.

NV30
The NV30 is an 8MP camera with 3200 ISO maximum sensitivity, dual image stabilisation, Advanced Shake Reduction, 2.5" LCD screen and auto Red-Eye Fix technology. Like the rest of the NV range the NV30 boasts a smart touch user interface for a more intuitive and user-friendly handling. The NV30 comes complete with a rechargeable battery and can also be charged via USB.

NV4
The NV 4 is a stylish 8-megapixel ultra-slim camera which also features dual image stabilisation, 2.5" LCD screen and auto Red-Eye Fix technology, as well as powerful movie and music capabilities.

The NV4 is priced at £149, NV30 at £179 and NV40 at £199 and all three models will be available from February 2008.

i8
As well as additions to the NV range, Samsung has also announced the i8, a multimedia camera with some interesting features. It is an 8-megapixel camera with a 2.7-inch LCD screen and a built-in Personal Multimedia Player which can play video clips and MP3s. It also features the 'World Tour Guide' function first seen on last year's i7, which provides instant access to travel information covering 2,600 regions in 30 countries. Further information can be downloaded directly from the internet into the camera's 195 MB of internal memory.

The i8 also features Samsung's Intelligent Face Recognition Technology, Digital Image Stabilization system and ISO 1600 high sensitivity. The i8 will retail at £149 and will be available from February 2008.

L-series
Samsung is also adding three new models to its popular L-series of budget compacts, the 8.1 mega pixel L100, the 10.1 mega pixel L110 and the 10.1 mega pixel L210. All three combine Samsung's Digital Image Stabilization and Intelligent Face Recognition Technology in a compact aluminium body. All three models also feature 3x optical zoom, a bright 2.5" LCD display and a suite of advanced video and editing features including MPEG-4 Movie Recording mode, shutter speeds of up to 1/1500sec, ISO 1600, auto Red-eye fix, scene modes, continuous shooting and exposure bracketing, intelligent face recognition technology and 10 megabytes of internal flash memory.

The Samsung L100 will be available from February 2008 priced £99, and the L110 (£129) and L210 (£149) will be available from March 2008.
