We've already seen it, but Samsung has now made its NC10 netbook official. There's precious little to differentiate Samsung's offering form its rivals, but that’s par for the netbook course. The NC10 certainly looks pretty for all that's worth.

This wouldn't be a netbook news story without a spec list, so here it is:

  • 10.2in, 1,024 x 600 LED-backlit display.
  • 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU
  • 512MB or 1GB of RAM
  • 80GB, 120GB, 160GB 5,400 rpm hard drive
  • Ethernet, Bluetooth, WiFi
  • Three USB ports, VGA out, card reader
  • 1.19Kg (3-cell battery) 1.33Kg (6-cell battery)
  • Up to eight hours battery life with 6-cell battery
  • Anti-bacterial "Silver Nano Technology" keyboard
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Notice anything outstanding? No, I thought not, unless you get particularly excited by anti-bacterial keyboards.

Saying that, Samsung does have a refreshingly different range of colours options for the NC10, which is more than some rival manufacturers offer. Given the how indistinguishable most netnooks are internally, it could be argued that being able to choose a system that looks better than the competition is a reasonable important factor. I particularly like the metallic blue - just for the record.

You'll be able to get you hands on an NC10 from October with price varying according to specification. The highest spec model pushes up to £329 ex. VAT.
