Here's exciting news for everyone but its competitors...
The delectable Palm Pre has turned up on the Palm UK website with users able to subscribe to the latest on the handset's official availability.
"At Palm, we've always been passionate about creating extraordinary mobile products," proclaims the site with the air of a manufacturer which knows it has already hit a home run. "It's with this spirit of innovation that we bring you the new, groundbreaking Palm webOS platform. It's an unparalleled mobile experience unlike anything you've seen before."
Yes, this is horrible marketing rhetoric and largely untrue given Web OS combines features of both mobile OS X seen on the iPhone (particularly in terms of gesture navigation) and Android. Where it does critically stand up however is that it is indeed 'an unparalleled mobile experience' compared to anything I have seen up to now.
For those not in the know, you can read my Palm Pre First Impressions to kill the time between anxiously pacing back and forth, strumming fingers and grinding your teeth as you await more. That said, I suspect my conclusions will only make your condition worse...
In related news (a lot of that about today) existing Palm owners jealous of the new Web OS could do a lot worse than check out the ingenious 'TealOS' produced by TealPoint software. More than just a visual skin, TealOS is a fully functional app launcher which mimics Web OS brilliantly supporting 'card' multitasking, swipe based gestures and more. Check out the company's undeniably impressive YouTube video for a live demo.
