Lumix DMC-ZX1

The 12.1-megapixel Lumix DMC-ZX1 is a brand new model for this Autumn, although it does bear a strong resemblance to another popular model from Panasonic's existing range. With an 8x zoom lens with a 25mm wide-angle and HD movie recording, it both looks and feels like a lighter, slimmer and slightly less awesome version of the TZ7, launched in March this year.

Like the other new launches, the ZX1 features an improved image stabilisation system, Power OIS, and a significantly faster autofocus system than previous models, with improved tracking AF ability. It also features the face recognition technology described on the previous page.

Like the TZ series the ZX1 is being sold as a travel camera, and features the newly added Travel mode. From the menu you can organize information related to your travel such as destination, date, world time and so on. Stored images can be organized using a calendar menu interface.

The ZX1 will also go on sale in September, at a price yet to be announced.

I wonder if you have considered expanding your staff on digital cameras? Cliff does a fine job but he is just one man. I would liked to heard some news on the new 3D camera from Fujifilm and the new GR Digital III from Ricoh. The Fujifilm camera to my mind would make more interesting news than Panasonic's updates. (No offence directed at you Cliff)
