After the event yesterday we got some hands-on time with the new iPods. We'll be sharing our thoughts on the new devices, and the other announcements, later today. In the meantime, here are our hands-on shots of all the new iPods. If you haven't already read about the announcements, check the links below:

Looks like Apple killed the LG and BlackBerry watches.

the only thing I notice is that there is now no wifi aerial on the touch, now because it's wifi and not 3G I doubt that it will be a problem, but after the iphone 4 I'm not 100% sure that it will be. Esp that apple originally said that the touch needs the aerial because the back is all metal.

might hold off one or 2 days just to hear the first day buyers experiences first.

@Ohmz: agree you can also set the nano to display the clock when you wake it so it is even more watch like than not.

@Jay

I just assumed that little black tubular dash on top, best seen here in the close up of the camera (5th photo), was a smaller version of the plastic WiFi area.

@GoldenGuy: that is the sleep/wake/on/off button, though while I was looking at the photos I did wonder if they had used the buttons as the aerial.

No camera on the Nanos now?

@Jay Ah, you're right - forgot about that. Another reason I'll be hanging back a little longer, just to be wary of possible complaints similar to what you mention. Admittedly even at the increased price, the new Touch is a tempting deal. I didn't get the 128gig option I was looking for and they've skimped on camera quality but this is close enough to the iPhone 4.

As for the others : love that there's a clip on the new Nano (I don't know but there's something inherently cool about having a mini touchscreen attached to your clothes - sort of like a coming of age for the technology); I also appreciate the stocking filler price of the new Shuffle but no 4 or 8 gig option keeps Sandisk's Clip+ a steal even 12 months on; plus it occurs to me that when the Classic is finally put to rest it'll symbolise The Beginning of the End for the entire HDD age.

Can't help feeling bad for iPad owners. It's great that printer support is coming but these things came out in April and they'll now be stuck on iOS 3 til *November*. I would've expected something now. One hopes 4.2 unifies the release cycle - it'll be terribly inconvenient if the iPad is genuinely the hardest device for which to shape iOS, always keeping it months behind the current software.

If the sound quality (using decent headphones as opposed to the generic ones supplied) with the new Nano is half decent then count me in. Looks like a great little chassis.

What happened? Did Andy go on holiday again?

The Nano took a step back. Looks like it has no camera as well, a poor strategic move if they think everyone will run and buy the Ipod Touch just for the camera. But no doubt the Apple fans will... Ed haha

I wonder what the sound quality will be like. I wish Sony could hurry up with a Sony Walkman X Series 2

As a long time user of nano, i must say this new nano looks like a joke, a definite stepback from apple, just like the previous square nano. Infact, it looks like my old headphone amplifier FiiO E5 from this link: http://www.fiio.com.cn/en/show...

Someone needs to come up with a watch like strap for the new iPod nano so you can wear it like a watch. I recon it would look cool ;)

The touch still comes with the ultra-crap-scratch-loving-smudge-whoring silver backing then?

the wifi aerial is in the upper right corner (roughly in the same place as the camera is on the left) from the look of the FCC teardown - just incase any of you wanted to know
