OCZ is once again proving it is easily the most prolific SSD manufacturer out there...
The company has announced the 'Vertex EX' series a range of 2.5in solid state drives targeting server environments and enterprise applications.
As you might expect OCZ is pushing the line's reliability which suggests it is increasingly confident in its choice of controllers - something which has proved troublesome for consumer ranges in the past.
"The advantages of SSD's over traditional hard disc drives including performance, reliability, no cooling requirements, and lower power consumption, are all highly beneficial to enterprise applications and enthusiast consumers looking for the ultimate storage solution," said OCZ CMO Alex Mei. "The new OCZ Vertex EX is designed to deliver unparalleled performance and reliability, featuring the latest-generation architecture and SATA interface utilizing single-level cell NAND flash memory for unmatched overall system responsiveness and stability for enterprise grade server solutions."
The use of SLC will do two things, the good: enables ballistic read/write performance of 260MBps and 210MBps respectively but the bad: will push up the (unannounced) price dramatically. 60GB and 120GB Vertex EX SSDs will be available initially though quite when we're still waiting to hear.
