O2, Orange & Vodafone Confirm Deals For iPhone 4

We'll cut this one off before we have to cull too many questions all asking the same thing: what UK networks will the iPhone 4 be on?

Existing iPhone partners Vodafone, O2 and Orange have all confirmed they will be offering the handset, but sadly none will announce pricing until closer to the release date (24 June). The Carphone Warehouse will also be continuing its long standing relationship with Apple by flogging the handsets on behalf of these three networks.

As yet there is no news whether T-Mobile, 3, Virgin Media or Tesco Mobile (don't snigger, it has happened before) will get a look in or whether it remains primary partners for now.

What do we think pricing will be? I personally don't expect to see it change much from the existing iPhone 3GS packages currently on each network. This would also likely see a contract free 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4 retail for around £449 and £549 respectively. Yes that's a bitter pill, but combined with a sim-only rolling monthly deal it generally works out cheaper over 18 months and you won't be roped into signing your life away.

In related news the iOS 4 patent has been resolved with Cisco issuing a formal statement saying: "Cisco has agreed to license the iOS trademark to Apple for use as the name of Apple’s operating system for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The license is for use of the trademark only and not for any technology.”

Apple has also done a deal with a (lucky) company called FaceTime which confirmed on its site: "Our agreement with Apple to transfer the FaceTime trademark to them comes as we are rebranding our company to better reflect our capabilities. We will be announcing a new name in the coming months."

I'll bet significant money changed hands between these three. *Tries to think of cheesy Apple brand for the future*

Update: Phones4U will also join Carphone Warehouse in shipping the iPhone 4. It already sells the iPhone 3GS.
