Now Dell 20in LCDs Get The Treatment

Got a Benny-like itch for a widescreen Dell LCD but can’t scratch it because of those 24 and 30in prices? Problem solved…

Just back from the personal trainer are the company’s 20in range and they’re looking lean and mean. The new 2007WFP (above) will replace the existing 2005FPW and offers a smart 16ms response time, 800:1 contrast ratio, 300cd/m2 brightness and a 0.258mm dot pitch. The native resolution is a highly respectable 1680 x 1050 but I can’t help wishing Dell had gone the extra yard to squeeze out 1920 x 1200 to make it compatible with full 1080p High Definition playback.

Should you be old school and prefer your LCDs more square than rectangular the 2007FP will be the model to catch your eye. It lays to rest the 2001FP and sports a 1600 x 1200 native resolution and 0.255mm dot pitch. Everywhere else it is inseparable from the 2007WFP.

Both models are available now and rather interestingly the widescreen 2007WFP actually costs slightly less than the 2007FP ($529 verses $539). Of course this being Dell those prices may only last a matter of hours before skyrocketing to $900 a piece or slumping to $5 with a boatload of coupons. It’s rather like watching the stock market only without any discernable logic.
