It was way back in November last year that we first saw the Nokia X7 in action and we were pretty impressed with its good looks and entertainment credentials so we're delighted that Nokia has finally announced the launch of its latest smartphone
The X7 has gone through somewhat of a difficult start in life with Nokia deciding back in January to pull the phone from a proposed US release. Since then we haven't heard much about the handset but today we are getting the full lowdown on the entertainment handset. The X7 will come with the same 4in screen we saw recently on the E7, but that's about where the comparisons end as the X7 is definitely a more 'fun' phone than the business-minded E7.
The X7 will be powered by the same ARM1176 680MHz processor we saw in the E6 which is a little behind the times at this stage. The stainless steel casing is complimented by the 4in AMOLED Gorilla Glass display on the front. On the rear is an 8MP EDoF camera with dual LED flashes which can capture 720p video recordings. The X7 comes with 8GB storage and supports up to 32GB via microSD card. The phone will ship with Nokia's updated Symbian^3 Anna which will include better browsing and enhanced Ovi Maps.
Nokia are clearly aiming this model at a younger audience playing up its entertainment and social networking features. Three has said it expects the X7 to be available soon but no exact date or pricing is available at the moment.
