Back in March burning software maestro Nero jumped outside the Windows OS environment for the first time. Now it is update time for NeroLinux as version 2.0 hits the market.
Technically it is version 18.104.22.168 but we’re not here to split hairs (ok, sometimes we are), and the big improvements this time are Layer-Jump recording, DVD Video and miniDVD mastering and a minor reworking of the user interface to allow selectable ISO track recording options and assignable audio alerts.
The last three features pretty much explain themselves, but let’s get back to this Layer-Jump stuff. This technology enables multisession burning, boosts read compatibility and increases memory capacity on dual layer DVD-R media up to the full 8.5GB (it was previously limited).
When you add these capabilities into those already included in the first edition (such as image burning, bootable CDs/DVDs, audio CD with CD text, Mixed mode CDs, etc) there is near as dammit a full feature set now.
NeroLinux 2.0 will run on numerous 32bit systems including Red Hat 7.2 to 9.0, Enterprise Linux 3.0, SuSE 8.0 to 9.2, Debian 3.0 and the upcoming 3.1 edition. If this heats your burning desire (*cringe*), head over here and grab it now.
