Motorola Intros Yet Another RAZR

With at least five versions of the malnourished RAZR doing the rounds these days it could be argued that Motorola’s design team should return for their apparent two year Caribbean sabbatical. No sign of that yet though…

The V3m is yet another RAZR spin off which does little to rejuvenate a line some would argue has now been superseded by Samsung’s D500 and D600 in terms of both features and desirability.

The main (if incremental) change this time around is stereo Bluetooth, otherwise it looks to be a near carbon copy of the V3i with the a microSD slot, 1.3MP digital camera, speech recognition calling and video capture. In a curiously scant announcement Motorola didn’t confirm whether the V3m would include a version of the iTunes software that featured on the V3i. If it does we can only pray it removes the 100 song limit which has haunted both the V3i and the critically savaged ROKR.

Motorola has yet to issue photography of its latest RAZR (I think we have a rough idea how it might look…) but it did slip out a shot of its V3i in three new colours: violet (which looks pink), maroon (which looks purple) and blue (which, thankfully the colour blind paint team does seem capable of recreating).

Hopefully this will finally be the end of the endlessly respawned RAZR. We know Motorola has it within itself to make another industry defining model if it really, really tries. It just needs to persuade its design team to pack up their beach towels, put down their coconuts and head back to the labs. Not an easy task, I can tell you…
