Mio Launches V505 and V735 Sat-Navs

I'm unconvinced that many people want a sat-nav that doubles as a TV, but if you do then Mio's Navman Spirt TV range is apparently the first in the UK to do so.

The V505 and V735 offer 4.7in and 7in displays respectively of unspecified resolutions. Functionally, there are almost no differences not accounted for by the different screen sizes. Freeview tuners, dual remotes and a "simple" touch screen interface are present in both devices. A seven day EPG is even available, for all the use that's likely to be. The V735 also offers storage and playback of video, photo and MP3 files.

As a sat-nav the two TV-enabled devices should work no differently to any others in the Spirit range, a moniker referring to the software featured by the V505 and V735. TruMap Views, Junction Views and lane guidance all purport to make navigation simpler and both models offer traffic data to help re-route around traffic jams and other such similar hold-ups. A Pedestrian Mode contributes to making the devices more useful where a car cannot go.

At £299.99 and 229 for the V735 and V505 respectively Mio doesn't look to be charging much of a premium for the added functionality the devices offer. So, anyone tempted?
