So we're up and running...

First past the post in the renamed World Mobile Congress (3GSM was getting kinda outdated) is Sony Ericsson with a barrage of new models.

Targeting the power user is the headlining 'Xperia X1' (above), an HSDPA smartphone with sliding QWERTY thumbboard, 3in touchscreen ultra high resolution 800 x 480 display (though can the benefits really be seen at this size?), a 3.2MP camera with autofocus, assisted GPS, an FM tuner, microSD slot, WiFi and Bluetooth with A2DP. Capping things off is Windows Mobile - which is either the icing on the cake or a deal breaker for many - while you'll need predictably large pockets at 110mm x 53mm x 17mm and 145g. HTC beware...

SE's Cybershot range is the next to get a boost in the shape(S) of the 'G900' and 'G700'. Both take the Cybershot line into new territory by employing 2.4in touchscreen displays (despite holding onto the keypad and soft keys) and feature 5MP and 3.2MP cameras respectively with autofocus, image stabilisation, red eye reduction and, on the former, multi-shot for action snaps. Bluetooth with A2DP and FM tuners are standard all round along with M2 expansion slots.

Continuing SE's C series Cybershot range are the 3G supporting 'C902' and 'C702'. The former is a more traditional candybar shooter which drops the touchscreen tech but makes up for it with a 5MP sensor, autofocus, red-eye reduction, facial recognition and burst photography 'BestPic' mode. Like the new G line, the C902 is quad band (no 3G) and matches them for connectivity while measuring just 10.5mm thick. The C702 packs a 3.2MP camera and GPS receiver for geo-tagging shots and further embraces the outdoor life with water and dust resistant casing.

Appeasing music fans is the 'Walkman W980' an iPod nano and iPhone battler with 8GB of onboard memory, a 2.2in QVGA screen, 3.2MP camera, the ubiquitous Bluetooth with A2DP, an FM tuner and shake sensitive controls (which will either be a hit or massive miss when jogging - if you jog, in which case WEIRDO).

Lastly we come to the 'Z770', a standard clamshell with 3G, 2.2in QVGA display, 2MP camera, Bluetooth with A2DP, MP3/AAC playback, just 32MB of internal memory and an M2 expansion slot.

All are predicted to land in Q2 with the exception of the W980. Digested all this? Great, let's see what's next...
