It seems as if everyone is getting in on the pre-CES announcement game with MSI joining the ranks of Asus and LG and showing off its Zacate-based Wind U270 at a small expo in Taipei.
Companies releasing info on their 2011 products prior to CES could lessen the importance of the Las Vegas show. However, with the plethora of technology which will be on display in Nevada, one of two early releases can’t hurt too much. The Wind U270 netbook is an 11.6-inch device with a 1.6GHz AMD Zacate processor - the first we’ve seen with this processor. The U270 will have 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and no optical drive. Other specs include a VGA output, two USB 2.0 ports, a single USB 3.0 socket, a Kensington lock port, 4-in-1 card reader, Ethernet jack and an 1366 x 768 resolution panel.
No doubt we will get a lot more information when we get some hands on time with the U270 in Vegas and we’ll bring you images and video of what we see. No doubt there will be more Zacate-based machines on display at CES so MSI will be hoping this early release will get them some hype ahead of their competitors.
