While some of us had the sneaking suspicion that at some point MSI might give its own version of the Wind a little something extra to edge it past the re-badged competition (I'm looking at you Advent 4211) no-one could have predicted this. The MSI Wind Love Edition is almost a silly as the name might suggest being as it is a normal 'Angel White' Wind with a few hearts painted on to it.
However, the reasoning behind the MSI Wind Love Edition goes a long way to countering the suggestion that the designers may have had a few too many puffs on the peace pipe. This particular version of MSI's netbook is to be distributed via a program called Love with the Wind and will see systems donated in, deep breath, Taiwan, China, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Korea and India. The intention, rather like the OLPC XO, is to give computers children who otherwise would likely have no access to them.
Given that effort on MSI's part to help " make a concrete contribution to bridge the digital divide and encourage others to show their care as well" I feel a bit mean taking a dig at the… interestingly chosen styling, so I won't. Moreover, I can't explain why but I rather want one.
Mind you, no matter how 'cute' or benevolent the Love Edition Wind may be, it almost certainly still won't run Vista.
