Logitech Launch Z906 Surround Sound Speakers

Logitech has announced the follow-up to its Z-5500 speakers in the shape of the Z906 5.1 channel surround sound speakers allowing up to six separate devices to be connected at one time.

The THX-certified Z906 speakers deliver 500 watts of power, which will give you “thunderous audio that can shake your house” if that is what you want from your speakers. The Z906 speakers can connect with six media devices at one including Blu-ray players, TVs, games consoles, DVD players, PVRs, iPods or computers. For your Dolby digital or DTS encoded soundtracks, on-board 5.1 digital decoding enables detailed surround sound and these Logitech Surround Sound Speakers can even convert two-channel stereo into “an immersive surround sound experience.”

The Z906 speaker set comes with a wireless remote and a couple of wall-mountable satellite speakers. For those who love bass (and who amongst us doesn’t) the ported, side-firing subwoofer delivers 165 watts of distortion-free bass. “We’re delighted to offer consumers a successor to the highly acclaimed Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 Speaker System,” said Mark Schneider, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s audio business unit. “The Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z906 are the logical evolution of surround sound speakers, and we’re confident they will become an indispensable part of the living room.”

The Z906 speakers are currently available from the Logitech website and come with an RRP of £329.

Looks like it could be a good value system, however those satellite speakers don't look very wife friendly!

@ChrisC: True. They come with dust covers to make them look a little less macho. :)

@Chris C - I think when you really look at which speakers you want - wife friendlyness is actually the only important thing. After that it's actually very hard to find any speakers at all! I've got some silver Kef's - cost me much more for a piece of furniture to "place" them in.

still loving my z-5500's :) although they are buried in my study and would never be allowed in the sitting room - probably just like these ;)

If I had the space ie a lounge I'd definitely pick these up for £330! And that is saying a lot as my most expensive speaker purchase ever were 40quid gamecon gaming headset.
