Ladies Finally Get Fashionable Laptop Bags

Given the furore around today's iPad launch (remember to check out out our review and buyers guide), it could be argued you'll need something to carry it in and chances are (slim chance) you might just be a laaaaaady...

So doing something rather different from the mainstream is Penelope & Parker, a new company focused on making hand-crafted laptop and work-wear bags for the fairer sex. Yes people ladies need laptops (disputably iPads) too.

On the practical side each bag comes with padded laptop protection and many can hold models of up to 15.6 inches so potential burglars will feel that one across the back of the head. They also come in a range of faux fur and leather finishes. I'd say more about the styling by my xy chromosomes make me genetically incapable of comprehending female fashion any deeper.

All have ranges have female names: 'Roxy', 'Layla', 'Lizi', 'Lara', 'Tabitha', 'Penny', etc (I'd go on, but P&P has a painfully coincidental habit of picking out names of my ex-girlfriends!) and all are reasonably premium starting from £175 and rising to £425. Given Penelope & Parker has just sealed a distribution deal with Selfridges that seems rather apt with the bags rolling out nationwide in September.

So if you can't think of a reason to justify taking your laptop on holiday, buy your partner one of these and she'll have to take hers getting you off the hook. Either that or use it as a pardon letter for getting out of watching Sex and the City 2... (Carrie Bradshaw *shudder*)

This was just announced to coincide with the SATC2 release, wasn't it?

@drdark - actually no (was late writing it up), but it did coincide nicely with giving me the opportunity to express my disdain FOR Sex in the City 2 ;)

Bloody Hell - its soo wrong that the bag is more expensive then the computer!

I carry my laptop in a dirty old carrier bag on the principle that any bag that says 'I have a laptop in me' is like attaching a 'please steal me' sticker...

Agreed KB.

I try to carry mine around in a generic, average sized, school bag style rucksack, with the extra security of looking like it could hold anything, and that it straps around both your shoulders.

But hey, this might give people less excuse to buy hideously underpowered computers purchased for fashion reasons, because the bag already takes care of the aesthetic consideration.

Or maybe I'm just being prejudiced and there's an amazonian hoard of female power users all on Core i7s that happened to be encased in sparkling pink or Hello Kitty laptop shells.
