For those who appreciate the finer things in life...?
Even if it does try its hand at most things, displays are where LaCie's heart truly lies and for graphic designers, keen photographers and those who simply need the best in colour reproduction the new LED backlit 700 series will get your blood pumping.
The 20in '720', 24in '724' and 30in '730' comprise the line with the entry level of the series harking back to 4:3 aspect ratio days (so much for 16:9) with a 1600 x 1200 native resolution (remember that?) while the 724 manages 1920 x 1200 and the 730 hits the very desirable 2560 x 1600.
With 6ms response times and 1000:1 contrast ratios, the big two certainly aren't targeting the multimedia fanatic but will instead be looking to please with their 14 bit gamma correction, accurate reproduction of 125 per cent of the HTSC gamut and bundled blue eye pro Proof Edition calibration software packages. Yep, they're all about the colour accuracy.
As you might expect, these models won't come cheaply so sharp-intake-of-breath-time: from £1,219, £1,729 and £3,539 for the 720, 724 and 730 respectively.
Those who need the 700 series: suck it up. The rest of you: I'm sorry for the counselling exposure to these figures will have necessitated.
