Over the last 12 months LG has been famed for its attempts to push monitor contrast ratios through the roof with the first 5 000:1 screens quickly followed by 10 000:1 models, but now its attention has turned to the environment.
The FLATRON 'W2252TE' is being dubbed the 'World's most eco-friendly monitor' and it achieves this label with a 22in widescreen design said to cut power consumption by a whopping 45 per cent when compared to other displays of a similar size.
Impressively the W2252TE doesn't appear to sacrifice a great deal to attain this icecap cuddling status since the contrast ratio is rated at an industry high 10,000:1, there's a lightening quick 2ms response time and standard 250cd m2 brightness. The monitor's 1680 x 1050 native resolution is par for the course on a 22 incher.
"With the ever increasing time spent by consumers on computers these days, there is a need for products that are more energy efficient," said LG Marketing Manager Fiona Landsberg. "The W2252TE gives consumers the chance to work, play games, watch movies or surf the internet, safe in the knowledge that they are doing as much as possible to help reduce their impact on the environment. We are committed to expanding our ‘green' monitor portfolio with products that either equal or better the energy saving provided by the W2252TE."
Pricing for the W2252TE is not yet available, but with its launch planned for August - a time when our household bills are expected to take yet another unwelcome leap - this could prove just the ticket...
