LG Announces Thinnest 8MP Cameraphone

It seems eight megapixel cameraphones are like buses...

First (naturally) Samsung drops the impressive i8510 on us and quickly follows it up with fellow eight megapixeler, the touchscreen Pixon. Now LG has added to its still unreleased 8MP touchscreen KC-910 (dubbed 'Renoir') with this little beauty...

Deviating somewhat from the smartphone route taken by the two companies to date, the 'KC-780' is a 13.8mm thick full eight megapixel shooter undercovered by GSM Arena. Of course 13.8mm isn't particularly svelte by today's bulimic smartphone standards but it is substantially skinnier than the likes of the i8510 and Pixon and a smidgen slimmer than the 13.9mm deep KC-910.

Other than this we only have speculation for you: a limited touchscreen display (think Secret-esque) seems likely along with 120fps video recording as it's LG's party trick, Bluetooth with A2DP and 3G are also surely a must in this day and age.

Expect LG to get all kinds of official now the KC-780 has broken cover. It owned up to the KC-910 within a week and we'd expect the same here in time for a Santa-friendly late October / early November release...

Update: GSM Arena also managed to snag some live shots alongside the KC-910. Good work fellas!

@lifethroughalens - yep, it all comes down to the image processing. Let's hope the focus (pun, naturally, intended) switches that way sooner rather than later...
