JBL has announced its latest speaker dock but has this time come to the table with a very important little feature - AirPlay.
Apple's proprietary wireless streaming technology allows iPhones, iPads, iPods, Apple TV and iTunes itself to push media around the house wire-free and as we saw recently with the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air, it is a very handy feature. The JBL On Air Wireless AirPlay speaker dock is certainly as unique looking as the Zeppelin Air with its circular design. Entitled HALO (horizontal acoustic level optimization), the design promises to "deliver clean, powerful sound via three advanced JBL transducers, which deliver rich, full-spectrum sound uniformly across a wide-listening area."
The JBL speaker also comes with a colour LCD screen on the front for displaying album art, an inbuilt alarm clock, FM radio and proprietary DPS technologies. The dock won't accommodate your iPad but will play nicely with any iPod or iPhone. "With the new JBL On Air Wireless speaker dock, JBL will set the standard again by introducing a solution for music lovers to store, access and listen to their music content for an even greater seamless music experience within the home," said David Slump, president, Harman Consumer Division - which makes the JBL On Air.
The On Air will be available this month in the US for $349 and we're awaiting updates from JBL regarding UK pricing and availability.
