Internet & DAB Radio Breaks New Price Low

Time was DAB radios came with limited feature sets and sky high prices. Thankfully those days are gone.

Marking something of a precedent Binatone has unveiled the 'Tranciva IR804' a DAB, Internet and FM radio all in one for a rather astounding price. First things first however...

Dubbed a true '3 in 1' product, the IR804 lives up to the first part of its functionality by providing access to all national and regional stations broadcasting in DAB. Part two comes courtesy of its ability to access any standard WiFi connection giving access to over 15,000 global podcasts and radio stations streamed online - both can be searched via country, genre or even keywords stored in the device's folder system. Lastly there's the self explanatory FM radio - or is there?

I say this because the IR804 has one further funky additional trick up its sleeve: it can stream any MP3, WMA or RA (Real Audio) files stored on a WiFi connected computer. Very cool for relaxing in the garden. Rounding things off are five station presets, an alarm with dual settings and snooze mode and sleep button for switching the device off after a preset period.

So I did mention the price was rather astounding so here it is *drum roll* £59.99. Yep, I thought you'd be pleased. The Binatone IR804 is available immediately from Argos but be warned I'd expect something of a queue...

Update: As I suspected from its omission, Binatone has just confirmed to us the IR804 cannot run off batteries could prove something of a deal breaker for some. Shame.
