IFA 2009: TomTom Gets Official with Go 950, 750 and 550 Live Sat-Navs

Clearly TomTom is getting close to exhausting all the new features it could possibly add to its sat-navs, as evidenced by its newly announced Go x50 range of units, the Go 950 Live, Go 750 Live and Go 550 Live.

All, as the Live suffix suggests, feature TomTom's much lauded HD traffic system of live traffic, fuel price and safety camera updates via the embedded SIM. Other staple features (i.e. those already seen in the x40 range) include IQ Routes, Map Share, Bluetooth and Lane Guidance, with the IQ Routes system boasting "800 billion historic speed measurements of 15 million road kilometres in 24 European countries" - all very impressive numbers, I'm sure you'll agree.

So, what's actually new and what separates each new unit from the other? A new frequent destination menu is included to...err... show you frequent destinations - such a useful feature it's hard to believe it wasn't already there - while a slightly dubious sounding ‘Eco Routes' mode will show you the most fuel-efficient routes.

Other than this the changes are largely superficial, with interface tweaks and general fine-tuning being the order of the day. No UK pricing has been announced yet, but the usual basic separation of devices is as before: the Go 950 has US, Canadian and European maps, the Go 750 European Maps and the 550 UK & Ireland Maps.
