HP Tease Us Some More

David Gilbert

As the 9 February announcement by HP approaches, it was inevitable more information would leak out and the only surprise is that the information is coming from HP itself.

Two weeks ago we brought you a report and images about two new webOS tablets from HP. The company then announced that the leaked images were not all we could expect at its announcement next Wednesday. Today HP has teased us some more by posting a couple of videos online. The videos however, one an official HP teaser, the other a more comical look at the announcement, don’t give us much insight into any product that could be announced in San Frnacisco next week.

The official HP teaser (above) is only eight seconds long and shows off what we suspect is a webOS tablet including a microphone/speaker grille, power/shutter buttons and some nice curves. And that’s about it. Another video, sent to Engadget is slightly shorter but shows a camera of some description but that’s where the details stop. It seems certain that HP will unveil some webOS-based tablet, and based on the video below, the webOS community is looking forward to it quite a bit.

HP seem to be enjoying the attention and are getting as much mileage as they can out of the announcement next week. We will be following the announcement for you here and reporting back on exactly what happens.

So with all the references in that second video to 'Angry Birds' has differentiation given way to 'metooiation' in the world of marketing?

I'm looking forward to the HP/Palm/WebOS announcements - but 'Angry Birds' is way down on my list of priorities for what I want to see in the future for WebOS.

Exactly. Angry Birds is so 2010. Now Super Stick Golf on the other hand...

I assume it was more an attempt at humour than a statement that "yeah we can run this game on our tablet as well".
