Ferrari, Lamborghini and even Hummer can all be found emblazoned on laptops these days and now add to the ranks: Maybach.
Multinational monster HP has decided the Germany manufacturer of gargantuan luxury automobiles represents everything it wants to put across with the 'ns42' an as yet unannounced notebook spied by Russian website linkout:http://www.tech2.ru/?p=148#more-148 Tech2}.
Details regarding the machine are understandably sketchy at present but we do know it will feature authentic leather casing as seen on the Asus Lambos (but tackier imho) and come equipped with an Intel Core 2 Dup processor and sizeable 64GB SSD. A second battery and Bluetooth mouse are also thrown in along with a lavish carry case, which it will need given the anticipated $4,000 RRP.
Graphics at this stage are unknown but rumoured to be from the nVidia GeForce Go 8000 series while everything else from the screen size and native resolution to size and weight are a mystery. By the looks of it the ns42 is around 3Kg and – oddly – the screen doesn't appear to have a widescreen format.
So we've got a potentially large, heavy, ugly, tackily exorbitant and overpriced product? Clearly Maybach was indeed an inspiration...
