Gears Of War 2 Shifts Two Million Units

In case you haven't played it yet, let me reiterate what Riyad said in our review: Gears of War 2 rocks! Don't believe us? Ask the two million other people who bought the game over the launch weekend.

No doubt of help in the huge sales figures was the simultaneous launch in 20 countries. A rare feat in the games industry as epic's Cliff Blezinski iterated: "We were so excited to launch ‘Gears of War 2' on the same day all around the world, something virtually unheard of in the games business. We wanted our fans, no matter where they live, to have a shared experience on day one, and that's exactly what's happened."

1.5 million people Xbox Live players were logged playing a massive 15 million hours of gameplay and, incidentally, unlocking some 19 million Achievements in the process. Apparently a new record for concurrent Live players was also set in the process, stat hunters.

In case you haven't heard of it, Gears of War 2 allows players to experi… only kidding, you already know what the game is by now. If you don't already have it, go buy it. Now!

I'm really not surprised, with the success of Gears1 and that we've had to wait (too long in my opinion ^_^ ) for the Gears2 since the initial release of Gears1, the fan base has grown and the development has had time to improve on the original highly polished game... if you don't own it... buy it... if you don't own a 360, buy one, for this is a perfect reason too.

I was lucky with my pre-order being sent a day early! AWESOME!

Great, hopefully Epic will earn lots of money off the 360 version, and finally release the game for pc in the coming few months.

Win win for all.

Just wondering why my comment has not been published for this story re: Gears not being released for the PC? I can't see anything that would have caused offence, or was it the linking to a Bit-tech news-story?

Have no idea, might have been an accident. Apologies.

There will be no PC version ever, according to Epic - as I mentioned in the comments of my original preview of the game...
