Fujitsu Breaks Portable Storage Records

With tiny flash memory keys now hitting a whopping 16GB the venerable 2.5in portable HDD has to go some – so go some it has...

The form factor has just hit the 300GB mark courtesy of Fujitsu and should be ideal for travel since it packs its own integrated USB2.0 cable and is fitted inside a 16 point omnidirectional (Fuji's posh way of saying it sits any way up) shock mounted case.

The model will not be a speed king with a 4,200RPM spin speed but Fujitsu does say it will be nice and quiet while corporate types need not fear since the model is bundled with 'Data Protection Suite' and 'EZ Gig II' data backup and security software. For the uber-cautious Cryptainer also comes free and enables content to be encrypted in either AES or Blowfish 448bit (!) encryption. Crack that...

Wilson has every right to slap himself on the back too since his company has put an extremely reasonable $229 RRP on the capacious little monster's head (the drive, not Wilson) and with a late Q3 global launch date it goes to show there's life in moving parts yet...
