Four New RAZRs, One With iTunes

Like buses, you wait for one iTunes phone for ages then two come along at once. We all know the ROKR isn’t worth the scrap value of its components, but last week the SLVR L7 made a slightly better – if still quirky – fist of it. Now Motorola has four new versions of its hugely popular (and, in my opinion, massively overrated) RAZR and one of them will also get the famous Apple software.

This (so far) poisoned chalice goes to an edition of the RAZR called the V3i (above). It will also sport a high res 262K internal colour screen and a 65K external one. There’s a 1.23 megapixel camera (a new rating on me) which replaces the naff VGA one in the original RAZR, speaker independent voice dialling and 30MB of internal memory, which can be boosted via a miniSD slot. At this point it remains unclear whether the V3i will have the same rubbish 100 track limitation as imposed on the first iTunes handsets, so we’ll have to wait with fingers crossed.

Debuting alongside it is the V3c, this is identical to the V3i apart from its lack of iTunes software, a slightly increased 1.3 megapixel camera and that fact that it is CDMA which means it’s for Yanks only.

Rounding the quadruplets off is a reissue of the original RAZR in two new colours. We’ve seen the pink edition before since a one off version was made famous by Ruskie tennis babe Maria Sharapova, but the pale blue variant comes out of the blue (sorry). Not a sausage has changed inside these re-sprays (even the VGA camera remains) but it’ll no doubt come cheap with any contract and attract avid readers of Hello! And! OK! Magazines! Globally!

All four variants will be out prior to the Christ born month (FYI technically it is thought he was born nearer late November) apart from the V3c which will only appear in the land where “Football” is a game played with your hands.
