It seems like that race to 50 can't happen soon enough...

Less than two weeks on from completing its terrestrial HD line-up with Five HD and ITV HD, the Murdockian empire has already moved beyond Sky 3D with the additions of recent sports arrival ESPN 3D and Japanese network acTVila 3D.

ESPN 3D will kick-off with an SA vs Mexico World Cup football match followed by an MLB Home Run Derby on 12 July while acTVila 3D will be arriving with a video on demand service soon afterwards. These add to Sky 3D's showing of the Manchester United verses Chelsea match on 3 April and the Coca-Cola Football League Play-Off Finals from Wembley Stadium in May.

As with Sky HD, viewers will need to subscribe to the broadcaster's premiere movie and sports channels and will then get access to these channels for free. Sky 3D broadcasts will also support all 3D TV's since their programming will be compatible with both passive and active 3D viewing technology.

With Virgin Media likely to respond before we all don our bathing suits and hit the backgarden, it looks like we'll be in for a busy summer...
