E-TEN X500+ Adds VGA Screen & WM6

While many smartphones appear to squish virtually identical features into a variety of different form factors, E-TEN's X500+ (an upgrade to last year's X500) has a number of genuinely stand out features.
Key most amongst them is the device's integration of a VGA (640 x 480) resolution display. This is double the on-screen real estate of QVGA handsets – which still dominate the market.
Of course a high resolution display is nothing if there isn't software to take advantage of it and to this end the X500+ is also one of the first handsets on the market with Windows Mobile 6. Microsoft's latest pocket OS features more advanced versions of Office applications so if you suddenly receive an Excel spreadsheet to study on the go the experience should be considerably more user friendly.
Other noticeable highlights include a 2MP camera with built in auto-Macro mode a Namecard Manager which enables users to transfer business card details by simply photographing them and a proportionately design at just 113.5 x 60.5 x 15.5mm. On the downside there's no 3G – which would have been superb given the VGA display's greater capacity for web browsing.

When and for how much this 'fine job' can be done however I'm still waiting to find out...
