You may have spotted that HTC is churning out smartphones like they’re just about to come into fashion (which I think they are) but E-TEN isn’t ready to concede the floor.
Just a month after it made a splash (sorry) with the X500 the first device for its new typo ridden consumer orientated brand ‘Glofiish’ it has added another tasty model: the M700.
Like HTC’s much loved TyTN (or T-Mobile Vario II/Vodafone v1605/Orange SPV M31000 as its better known), the M700 is a thumbboard slider with a 2.8in 320 x 240 touchscreen, 2MP camera, wireless b/g, Bluetooth, Push Mail support and Microsoft Office.
Where it differs from the TyTN is its lack of 3G/HSDPA support instead being limited to GPRS and EDGE but the flip side of the coin is the M700’s integrated GPS via an embedded SiRF Star III chipset. You won’t get any GPS software included with the M700 however so you’ll be free to make your own choice.
The M700 is available on pre-order now through UK online retailer Expansys (RRP TBA) and it will be happy to bundle you a contract with your handset should you so wish.
Interestingly E-TEN revealed to me yesterday that it expects to unleash 3G enabled smartphones with VGA screens in the first half of next year. Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about.
