I guess it’s a case of better late than never, but the much delayed Dell Venue Pro is finally available for order here in the UK, but to get one you’ll have to shell out £459.
The Venue Pro has been long delayed getting to UK shores following a similar delay in the US. Announced along with a slew of other Windows Phone 7 devices last October, the Venue Pro went on sale in the US prior to Christmas but problems with the device meant many people were unable to get their hands on one until earlier this year. Now the computer giant is sending its first smartphone our way, but with a hefty price tag.
The Venue Pro has a 4.1in AMOLED capacitive multi-touch display with a sliding QWERTY portrait keyboard. It is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, has a 5 megapixel camera, and weighs in at a hefty 192g - which could be a deal breaker for many. The handset also comes with a non-removable 8GB or 16GB microSD card, however if you don’t mind voiding your warranty you can put a bigger card in the slot.
The delays in getting the Venue Pro to market could have sealed its fate with people already looking towards the first Nokia/WP7 devices coming hopefully later this year. Whether or not the Venue Pro is a decent handset we will reserve judgment on until we get our hands on one for a full review, but if you want to order one head over the the Dell UK website with your £459 and you should have one in ten days or so.
