As proud of its motto of "you won't find us in the shops" Dell has been over the years, it seems that even the biggest of companies will eventually succumb to the opportunity to make what we in the industry call "even more money" by expanding into new retail channels. That's right folks, Dell PCs can now be found for sale in HMVs Gamerbase at the companies Trocadero store, in London.
Gamerbase is HMVs LAN gaming centre and is sponsored by Dell and Intel, who have fitted it out with XPS gaming machines packing Intel processors. Now along side these systems designed to be played on, you'll find a range of systems designed to be sold off the back of your gaming experience. Although, while I don't doubt that HMV may sell a reasonable amount of games from letting people play them first, I don't think PCs are such a commodity item.
Nonetheless, both Dell and HMV are confident that extending the online PC giant's reach to the shop floor will benefit both parties, which is almost defiantly a safe bet. If you fancy a Dell PC, can't or won't shop online and don't want the option to customise your machine's specification to personal taste then head on into London and spend some cash.
